Blend was launched last year by Spotify to enable users to create playlists. The Swedish audio streaming platform has gotten its biggest update since its release.
The new feature will allow two Spotify users to blend with up to 10 people in a group (be it your book club, group chat or running club) and the other option it gives you is a chance to blend with some of your favourite artists.
Breaking it down, this new feature will allow users to see where their music tastes overlap by mixing their favourite songs to find those they have in common. Blend will see to a daily update with new songs based on everyone’s listening habits.
To blend with your group, follow these easy steps:
- Create + Invite: Just search ‘Blend’ within the ‘Search’ tab on Spotify. Tap ‘Invite’ to select people to Blend with.
- Blend: Once your friend has accepted the invite, Spotify will generate your shared Blend playlist, which includes songs (and recommendations) that reflect everyone’s music preferences.
- Listen + Share: As soon as everyone has joined the collaborative playlist, you and your friends will receive a custom share card that enables you to share the word on social media.
Spotify has partnered with artists including BTS, Megan Thee Stallion, Diplo, Lauv, Kacey Musgraves, Charli XCX among others to allow Spotify users experience merging their musical tastes into a Blend playlist and share.
Users will receive a ‘Taste Match Score’ – a score that is calculated based on how similar or different your listening preference is compared with other Blend users. The cards are designed to be shared directly on social media sites including Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter.
