Rolls Royce has ventured into the NFT space and will debut the new Black Badge on October 28.
The automobile brand has partnered with Mason London, to make an NFT go with the vehicle. Mason (whose real name is Joe) has created art for Nike, Dua Lipa and High Snobiety. Regarding the vehicle’s commission, Rolls-Royce hinted that the NFT will be stored in an encrypted wallet at the company’s headquarters in Goodwood.
If you’re not familiar with NFT, it is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data and is stored on a digital ledger. It’s a hot thing in the world of art and cryptocurrency; it could be tied to a piece of painting, sculpture or an asset. They are made to verify digital items just the same way a piece of work is verified.
Rolls-Royce isn’t the first automobile brand to venture into the NFT space. Earlier this year, Porsche Digital was put together to make the brand’s vision of entering the digital realm a reality. Same thing with DeLorean Motor Company as they announced a collection of tokens that were used to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the DMC-12.
Details of the Black Badge will be out when it debuts on the 28th of October at 5:00 AM PT. For time conversions:
