The Internet search giant Google has announced new features that it will add to its platform to help users plan their actions better as many countries across the world begin to open borders.
The impact of COVID-19 on destinations can vary, it’s important to stay up to date on the latest travel-related information for places to visit is extremely important.
As countries restrictions and advisories begin to lift, Google made it known that they are adding information about travel resuming in a specific destination on Google Search.
These new features will make travelling plan easier:
- The search engine giant will be adding the percentage of open hotels with availability and flights operating at the city or county level. This data will be based on the Google Flights and Hotels data from one week before that.
- Google asks its users to head to google.com/travel to see trendlines for hotel and flight availability. On the page, the company will be giving out links to additional local resources, including the number of Covid-19 cases as well.
- Another thing that Google will be giving prominence to its cancellation policy. Google mentions that due to the uncertainty that is prevalent right now, it is essential to have flexibility. As a result, many hotels and vacation rentals now offer free cancellation to give travellers.
Therefore, later this month it will be offering a filter to see only rooms or properties with free cancellation policies.
However, it hasn’t specified the regions or countries where this feature will be rolled out first so it is safe to assume that it will be rolled out globally and both the features are visible to users soon.
These new Google features is a great one, as the uncertainty of COVID-19 makes it hard to navigate travel decisions, sharing the most relevant information so that people can make informed decisions and travel safely when the time comes, is a great idea from google
