Foxconn Set To Launch New EVs on October 18

Taiwanese electronics giant, Foxconn is gradually getting its hands dirty in the electric vehicle space.

The iPhone builder and also the world’s biggest electronics manufacturer hinted via a video last week their intention to release 3 electric vehicles come October 18, also their Hon Hai Tech Day. The clip had a sport-like sedan with light bars across the front and rear. When closely looked at, there was a Pininfarina badge at the front fender. This indicates that Pininfarina, the design studio that styled multiple Maseratis, has something to do with this new ride.  

Earlier this month, they purchased the majority of Lordstown factory in Ohio, for $230 million to commence the production of their electric vehicles. Foxconn is also in partnership with Fisker (PROJECT PEAR) and they’ll begin production in 2023. Foxconn isn’t just in the process of making their own EVs, as they have been on the lookout to make sure the future is completely electric.  

What To Expect

  1. According to the teaser, the vehicles’ front view will have the name FOXTRON inscribed, implying the name of the brand.
  2. It’s expected to come with battery pack capacities of 93Wh, 100Wh and 166kWh. The output power of the front model will be 95kW, 150kW and 200kW. The output power of the rear will be 150kW, 200kW and 340kW respectively.
  3. The company’s manufacturing facilities will be based in Thailand and the United States next year.
  4. Attendees will be able to participate by watching and boarding the vehicles.
  5. Three electric cars will be revealed.
